babochka_x899: (finding her way)
If Alex were paying better attention she would say she woke up feeling off this morning, but as she's been feeling off in a variety of ways since before she showed up in Darrow, she blames it on a lack of caffeine and sleep. She grabs her first cup of coffee at home to drink on Seymour's walk, but once the puppy has run out all the energy he'd built up over the night, and she's taken him home, she's too antsy to stay in the apartment.

So she dresses for a run, but decides to get another coffee beforehand. Preston isn't at the Coffee Bean when she goes in, but most of the staff know her by now anyway and a large almond milk latte with an extra shot is ready for her about the same time she gets to the counter to pay... and in theory to order, but they've already handled that with little more than significant looks while the guy in front of her waffled on what to get.

Coffee in hand, Alex heads out the door, pausing to hold it for the person coming toward it without really looking at them. It's a nice enough day, maybe the sunshine will do something about whatever it is that's bugging her today. And once she's properly caffeinated, she can get in that run. Ten miles or so sounds good this morning.
babochka_x899: (caged and cagey)
Alex has had nightmares for as long as she can remember. No, that's not true. She had the occasional nightmare as a kid, just like everybody, but the real nightmares started the night a Division strike team came after her family, killed her father, and burned her house down.

But lately, they have been getting worse.

When she can't sleep, she patrols or scours what passes for the internet in Darrow looking for clues, something, anything that will lead to a way out. And she thinks every barista in the city knows her face by now - not great for opsec, but excellent for her caffeine intake. On top of that, she has a cover to maintain, so she needs to be out and about sometimes doing normal stuff, while keeping an eye and ear out for anything that might be useful or where she can help.

Today she's in a coffee shop, almond milk latte extra shot within easy reach, scrolling through a message board dedicated to the late Tiffany Charlotte and Todd Chad. The ramblings of their crazed fans - yes, Amanda, that's redundant - are giving her a headache, but it doesn't make sense how devoted so many Darrowites are to the dead celebrities, and Alex thinks there has to be something else going on there, if she can just ferret out what.

Taking a slow sip of her coffee, Alex rubs her forehead as she sets down the cup, muttering to herself in Russian, "These people are out of their minds."
